How do I clean the Porch Potty SMALL?
Cleaning the Porch Potty SMALL is easy! Simply remove solids and manually water the grass with a watering can or hose for 1 minute. This allows the water to soak up the entire surface and clean every blade of grass. The water will then flow through the perforated backing in the synthetic grass and down the 14-foot drain hose or into the catch basin (sold separately). Do this every few days for a clean and odor-free Porch Potty. To clean the plastic tray, wipe it down or let it soak in water and vinegar or water and a bit of bleach. Empty and rinse with water. Now you can place the grass back on. You should also lift the base of the Porch Potty to clean any areas where your dog may have missed or dripped down the side.
Will the Porch Potty smell?
With regular cleaning, your Porch Potty will stay odor-free! All it takes is rinsing with clean water a few times per week. The self-draining system will do the work for you and direct all the water and urine to your designated runoff or into the catch basin. Sometimes, despite how often you clean Porch Potty, protein in urine can build up, leaving behind lingering odors. In that case, give Piss Off (not included) a try. What if my dog won’t use the Porch Potty?

We moved into an apartment while our new home was being built. I didn’t want to walk around the complex in the middle of the night so our little guy could do his business. We researched several options and ended up with the Porch Potty brand. We’ve had it for three years and love it. When we moved into our new home, the Porch Potty went into our screened in patio, but it was in full sun with all the elements of the weather. We just replaced our original with a new one 3 1/2 years later. It’s the perfect solution!

I house trained my doodle on a fake grass tray with potty pads beneath it. We recently moved into a condo on the third floor with balcony. I reinstated the fake grass potty tray. Unfortunately, even changing the potty pads underneath every morning, the grass grew stinkier than I liked, with no way to wash it. Replacing the grass pad frequently was getting expensive. I saw the add for Porch Potty and as I have a hose on my patio I thought this was a problem solver. I hooked the drainage hose into the downspout of the gutter and WOW! Simply awesome solution. I hose it daily and no lingering urine smell. My doodle wasn’t crazy about it at first as the surface is not as firm as the old tray was. But she’s used to it now and my patio/balcony is odor free!

We moved from a half acre to a top floor apartment, and we worried our dog would not adjust well. The middle of the night potty breaks started and we got nervous. Buying this was the best thing we've done! Skittles loves it and uses it multiple times a day!!!

It’s pretty, it doesn’t smell as much as a regular potty grass, but it’s way too tall for my small Yorkie, she struggles a lot to jump on it, it’s already too expensive and I had to buy the ramp separate because of it. Pretty annoying but, does the job.
My chihuahua’s are 12 & 11 now & are showing signs of age. Having trouble going up & down the deck steps. I bought the small porch potty & the small caravan pupup canopy from Amazon fits perfectly on this to give protection from weather. Hard time getting them to go on artificial turf so bought the sod & they are now using it. Sometimes they still choose to go down the steps into the yard but at least now they have a choice.
This has made life a bit easier for us in raising a puppy. Not having to leave the apartment first thing in the morning because I can take him out on the porch is wonderful. I don't mind any of the other walks, but that first thing in the morning one is now just out to our porch! Our puppy is 11 weeks old and getting the hang of it. He went out there on his own for the first time yesterday to poop. We are giving treats for success and he is learning fast.

We’ve tried everything to get our dog to use the porch potty, but unfortunately it just hasn’t worked for us. While the product is a great idea in theory, following all of the instructions and recommended methods still didn’t lead to success — and we recognize that may simply come down to our dog’s preferences.
What’s truly disappointing, however, is the company’s rigid return policy. Despite offering a product that, by nature, won’t work for every dog, they are unwilling to issue refunds or accept returns. Retailers like Chewy and PetSmart understand that pet products can be hit or miss and stand behind their customers when something doesn’t work out. Sadly, this company does not.
Overall, we’re frustrated not only with the product’s performance but also with the lack of flexibility and customer support.

Every dog is different, and sometimes they need to go back to basics with training. You can try blocking his access to the area he’s chosen as his new spot and bringing him to the Porch Potty on a leash whenever you think he may need to go—after meals, waking up, or following his usual routine. Encourage him to move around or circle on the potty, and if he doesn’t go within a few minutes, let him relax and try again a bit later. Keeping him close by in between helps prevent accidents.
A small change in routine, paired with consistent redirection, often helps dogs get back on track, and positive reinforcement like treats and praise can make a big difference too. The cutomer service of this company is above average. I had something wrong with my order and they rectified the situation so smoothly and quickly. Set up was a breeze and my pups are already using it after a week. Thank you for everything.

I am not happy with this product but loved the lager one I have had for five years. It is great and works very well on small patio.
This one has an oder and my dog won't jump on to it. If placed on it he runs away. Will keep on trying.

I've tried real grass (My dog just digs it up and rips apart and it dries in a few days, even with water), Cork type dog potty (again he rips it apart) - the quality of the porch potty is great! Love the design and how sturdy it is. It took a few days for my dog to take to it but LOVE IT!!!!

I have two of these and they are a life saver for me. I have a deck off my master bedroom and in the middle of the night when my pup cries I don’t have to run down 3 flights of stairs to take him out. He took to this right away but my other dog did not. At least not yet.

This thing is literally an overpriced plastic hunk of junk. It stinks in less than 24 hours just like the cheap ones do. I find myself cleaning it a lot more often and it’s a lot more expensive to replace the turf. But there’s not much I can do now because I paid $300 for it already. Also the hose doesn’t fit, AT ALL, but you all already knew that because I heard about it in the reviews. I thought maybe that design flaw would’ve been fixed by now but guess not. This is worthless plastic and shouldn’t cost more than $60. DONT BUY THIS.

The porch potty draining system (which is what I paid so much for) does not work. It leaked multiple times despite me tightening it (not thinking it was a defective $250 dog potty). Finally, the third time it had leaked urine all over the porch, I realized it had to be the product. I called porch potty customer service. They recognized it was likely a defective part and said the best they could do, was to send me a hose. I said that I would like a partial refund due to the product not working and being defective when received. When they told me that was not possible, I said that I would just return the product then. They then said that was also not possible because the potty had been used. The product had to be used for me to know it was defective... They refunded the shipping, after LENGTHY conversation with the customer service manager and gave me a new hose... a not broken hose, which should have come with the first potty OR I should have been able to return the broken product. Would not buy this product again, and do not suggest it. Their key selling point for the price point is the draining system which doesn't work. So buy the $30 one off of amazon instead and call it a day.

Great idea but the company does not have a good return policy. If you buy this unit please be aware that shipping it back costs about $200+ dollars which is why the company does not want to pay for shipping. Porch Potty did not work for us but maybe it will work for you, however mine is currently sitting in my trunk until I can find someone to sell it to.

Perfect size for my 29 lb dog! It will be going out on my actual porch soon.
I’ve tried several other balcony potty options for my dog and because I’m able to clean this daily, this is the only option that hasn’t smelled or attracted flies. Use a cleaning solution of vinegar and water to rinse after each use and spray down with the turf cleaner daily and there has been no smell at all! May seem like a slightly more manual process but well worth it to know my girl has a clean place to go each time and we can still enjoy hanging out on a balcony free from smell and flies!
The drainage system on this smaller potty is not angled enough to drain, the urine stays on top. Unlike the large porch potty, this design doesn't have the same drainage design that makes the urine flow into the basin. This leads to more cleaning and maintenance. The larger one is better, disappointed that this smaller one doesn't work the same.
This product is great for what it's intended for. I believe the price is alittle steep but still worth it if it helps with your potty problems. Would recommend to anyone who lives in apartment buildings or high rises
my dog won't go to the bathroom on it :( I tried spray and that didn't work. I tried making him wait to go so he would feel like he had to go there and that didn't work. Not sure what else to do
This is the second purchase we have made since we moved countries. It took our dog a bit longer to get use to the new one surprisingly, but with 5 days of consistent training, he is back on track. Extremely helpful. I took one star away as there is the same draining issue for the design. I think the hole and hose could be made wider to help with the rinsing process to keep the potty fresh.
