Happy Mother's Day from Porch Potty

We’re closing out National Pet Week at Porch Potty by celebrating Mother’s Day!

It’s important to recognize the sacrifice and love our moms spoil us with, day in and day out, fur or no fur. In honor of Mother's Day, here is a glimpse of my favorite dog families and the women that inspire me to be the best dog person I can:

“Everyone told my mom not to bring me home. They said I’d be mean to her and her kids because I am a pitbull mix. My mom said there was no way a face this sweet would ever hurt one of her kids and she was right. I love my family so much. I love playing and napping with my sister and brothers. My favorite thing is when Mom takes me to work with her and everyone gives me treats.”
Charlie, Pitbull Mix, 3 years old.

“My Mom is the best mom ever. My Dad brought me home because he used to travel a lot and didn’t like that Mom was home alone so much. I was just a puppy then. She was always patient and taught me to be a good dog. I have two human brothers now that I’ve watch over as they grow. I can’t play as much as I used to because the fur on my face is all white now, but we still go on walks and play at the park.”
-Lola, Golden Retriever, 11 years old.

“My mom picked me! No one wanted me because I am missing a leg. Mom says that’s what made her love me more. I was shy when I first came home, I guess I was a little scared to be myself but you’d never know it now. I keep up with my dog sister, Maggie, and even beat her to the ball sometimes! My human brother, Daniel, feeds me treats at dinner when Mom isn’t looking, but I think she knows.”
-Loki, Lab Mix, 2 years old.

“I keep my moms busy! I'm still learning good manners but I don't have accidents anymore. I can tell that makes my moms happy and they tell me all the time how smart I am. I’m still a puppy, so sometimes I wake my moms up at night. I’m sorry I chewed up your shoe, Mom. It did help my teeth feel better though.”
-Star, Labradoodle, 7 months old.

“My favorite thing about my mom is that she takes me with her everywhere she goes. I get to meet all kinds of people. My favorite are the kids. We go hiking and camping, and even though I really want to, I don’t chase the bunnies I find.”
-Jewel, Cairn Terrier, 5 years old.

“My mom brought me home because my brother has autism. My job is to help make him feel safe if he gets upset. I can tell when he doesn’t feel good, so I nudge his hand with my nose. He calms down when he pets me and usually hugs me until he’s ready. I don’t mind. I love all the hugs. My mom and dad love both of us a lot and work hard to make sure we’re all happy. Sometimes, I see my mom crying when she’s tired. I nudge her hand just like I do with Ben, then she hugs me too.”
-Bean, Labrador Retriever, 6 years old.

Happy Mother’s Day to all you moms out there! Thank you for all you are and do.
